Formatting a letter and reading it aloud (Desk)

Claimsfy Desk

The Letters tab in Claimsfy Desk is the same as in Claimsfy Letters: pick the letter from the Letter menu, then 1 Choose the letter, 2 Write and check it and 3 Approve and send. The letter is written in Times New Roman in a box with a formatting bar.

  • Formatting: the bar over the letter sets the font, size, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, text color, highlight, alignment, lists, indent and line spacing. Select the words first, or pick a setting and start typing. Clear formatting takes it off. It's saved with the letter and goes into the PDF (the download and the copy that's mailed), the Word file and Copy. A font that isn't on a computer shows in a similar one, and PDFs use the closest standard PDF font (Times, Helvetica or Courier).
  • Highlighter: click ab on the bar, then drag over the words to highlight them. It stays on until you click it again or press Esc. Or select the words first, then click it. ▾ next to it picks the color (yellow, green, blue, pink or orange), and No highlight takes the highlight off the words you drag over. On a phone or tablet, drag sideways across the words; up and down still scrolls.
  • Freeze: 📌 Freeze at the end of the bar (just 📌 when the box is narrow) keeps the bar on screen while you scroll a long letter or report, so you can format text halfway down without scrolling back up. Click it again (📌 Frozen) and the bar scrolls with the page. One setting for every formatting bar, remembered on that computer.
  • 🔊 Read aloud, with Write letter, Fill fields only and Undo in step 2, reads the letter back a sentence at a time. The reader opens above the letter: pause, go back or forward a sentence, stop, or change the voice and speed.
  • Language reads it in one of 16 languages (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Chinese and more). Claimsfy AI translates it for listening only: the letter itself isn't changed, and Show the translation shows the text. No voice for that language? Add one in your computer's speech or language settings. Have a qualified translator check any translated letter you send.
  • Waiting for approval: while a letter waits for a supervisor's approval, the letter and its formatting bar are locked. Withdraw to edit unlocks them.
