Measuring rooms from photos (Field)
On the Sketch tab, Scan a room and Measure from photos measure rooms from photos:
- Camera scan, any number of walls: set Walls in this room with − and +, or tap + Add wall. A room needs at least 3 walls and can have as many as it really has. Take a straight-on photo of each wall and tap 📐 Measure, or type the wall's length. Choose the turn after each wall: right, left or any angle. Build room comes on only when every wall is in.
- Any shape: a 4-wall room with equal opposite walls goes in as a rectangle, with the opposite walls averaged. Any other shape, such as an L-shaped room with 6 walls, goes onto the sketch and into the Rooms table as its true shape, with its real floor area, perimeter and wall area. If the walls don't close, Claimsfy tells you by how much; a small gap is spread over the walls. Rebuild room replaces the room after you re-measure, and Start the next room clears the scan.
- 📐 Measure, precisely: tap the 4 corners of a door (or a garage door, a patio door, a sheet of letter paper on the wall or any rectangle you measured) to square up the photo, so lengths come out right even when it was taken at an angle. Two-point references (door height, ceiling height, a floor tile, something you measured) are still there for a quick scale. Zoom with +, − and ⤢ Fit, the mouse wheel or two fingers; drag the photo to move it; press and hold for the magnifier; drag a point to fine-tune it; and nudge the selected point with the arrow buttons or keys. + Measure again averages a second wall length or ceiling height. Every figure shows its ± to the nearest ¼".
- Everything on the wall: box each door, window, opening and damaged area with two taps (width, height and where it sits on the wall), measure the baseboard height, and pick a type for each if you like. They go into the room's details: the walls subtract the doors and windows, trim lengths are figured, and the measured baseboard height offers the matching baseboard size.
- Room details are optional: ceiling height, floor, walls, wall texture, ceiling, ceiling shape, baseboard and crown. Leave any of them blank. Fill blanks from the photos (Claimsfy AI) fills only the blank ones.
- Measure from photos (Claimsfy AI): estimates room and roof sizes plus every door and window, baseboards, the floor, wall and ceiling types and damaged areas, each with its confidence, its ± and the references it used (two where it can). Tap 📐 on any photo to measure it by hand; Claimsfy AI then uses your measurements as exact. Adding the materials is optional: untick Also add the materials to the rooms to apply only the sizes, doors and windows. Only blank details are filled.
- Walk-around: a room that isn't a rectangle goes into the Rooms table too, with its true area, and the doors and windows you entered go into the room's details.
