Financials: reserves with authority limits (Carrier)

Claimsfy Carrier

The Financials tab (after Policy & Coverage) holds the claim's reserves by cost type – indemnity, medical and expense – with every change, its reason and who approved it.

  • Set the initial reserve: ✎ Change reserves starts with the usual lines for the claim's line of business (Coverage A–D and expense for property, for example). When the notice of loss has enough to go on, Start from the suggestion fills in the automatic estimate; nothing posts until the examiner sends it. + Add a line adds any other line. Every change needs a reason.
  • The suggestion follows the evidence: it starts from the damage the insured reported in the notice of loss only (nothing from inspection or mitigation notes). When damage photos come in and the figure readjusted to them differs from the posted reserve by 15% (and $500) or more, Financials shows Damage photos are in with the new figure. Review the change opens a reserve change with it (reason New information), which goes through authority like any other change; Not now hides it. ✕ Reject automatic reserve (beside Start from the suggestion, and on that notice) stops the suggestion and the readjustment offer on that claim; ✎ Set my own reserve opens an empty reserve change; Turn automatic back on undoes a rejection.
  • Authority: a change that keeps the total reserve within the examiner's authority posts right away, and so does lowering a reserve. Above it, the change goes to the claim's supervisor, or another supervisor or administrator with enough authority. They approve it, or return it with a note, from the Claims Queue (Reserve changes to approve) or the claim's Financials tab. Nobody approves their own change, or one above their own authority.
  • Setting authority: administrators use ⚙ Authority limits on the Financials tab: a default for examiners ($25,000 to start), a default for supervisors ($100,000) and a personal limit for anyone. Administrators have no limit.
  • What examiners see: before sending, the form says whether the change posts or goes to a supervisor (by name). A returned change shows the supervisor's note, a badge on the tab and Change it and send again. Examiners are notified by email and in the 🔔 when a change is approved or returned.
  • The server keeps the reserve ledger and checks authority itself, so authority can't be skipped by editing data. The automatic initial reserve doesn't post on its own; it's the suggestion on this tab. Payments aren't in Carrier yet.
