Launch it (Letters)
1. Put it online
Render (simplest):
- Put this folder in a GitHub repository (private is fine).
- In Render, choose New → Blueprint and pick the repository. Render reads
render.yaml. - Enter ADMIN_PASSWORD, your administrator password; the username is
admin. Optionally enter:- ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for AI drafting.
- APP_URL, the address your team will use, such as
https://claims.yourcompany.com/. Email links, including password resets, point there. You can fill it in after you add your domain. - LOB_API_KEY, to mail letters through Lob (print and mail). A
test_key accepts letters without printing them; alive_key mails them. See Letters: supervisor approval and mailing.
- Deploy.
Any server with Node 18+:
ADMIN_PASSWORD=pick-a-strong-one SESSION_SECRET=long-random-text node server/server.jsPut it behind HTTPS before using it over the internet.
Docker:
docker build -t claimsfy-letters . && docker run -p 8080:8080 -v claimsfy-letters:/data -e ADMIN_PASSWORD=... -e SESSION_SECRET=... claimsfy-letters2. Add your team
Sign in as admin, then add people in 👤 → 👥 Manage users:
- Supervisor: sees and assigns every claim. Supervisors approve letters that quote policy language.
- Adjuster: sees their own and assigned claims.
Each person gets a temporary password and chooses their own at first sign-in.
Or open 👤 → 🗂 Letters team & assignments, turn on the sign-up link, and send it out. People who sign up become adjusters; make supervisors in Manage users. Turn the link off when everyone is in.
3. Assign claims
- From the team page (supervisors and administrators): every claim, with its status and adjuster. Choose a name in the Adjuster column to assign or reassign it. Not assigned filters claims nobody owns; Download list gives a spreadsheet.
- From the claim: a supervisor sets the adjuster under Claim assignment on the Notice of Loss tab. That makes them the claim's owner.
- Type of claim: New claim (or + New on the queue) asks for the type of claim with four buttons: Property, Liability, Auto or Workers' Comp. The line you're working in starts selected, so it's one tap to change. The claim opens with that line's notice of loss fields, checklist, estimate and letters.
A supervisor's computer downloads only the claims they work on or open. To keep every claim on that computer, tick Keep every claim on this device on the team page.
